The 2013 Outlander Sport did even better than a Top Safety Pick with a Top Safety Pick+ recognition
Only two of 13 small SUVs received the recognition for superb safety by being granted an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. This is a new award for the IIHS, designated as its highest accolade for vehicles that offer superior crash protection, according to the Mitsubishi press release. Two-thirds of the small SUVs tested alongside the 2013 Outlander Sport were granted a "poor".
